A dramatic encounter unfolded in India when a black Labrador retriever named Rocky managed to escape from a leopard’s powerful grip.
Rocky was wandering outside the Sunrise Valley apartment complex in Mount Abu, Rajasthan, early one morning when the frightening incident occurred, according to the Times of India.
Video footage showed Rocky calmly walking through the garden near the entrance of the property. Suddenly, a leopard approached from behind and pounced on the unsuspecting dog.
Despite the sudden and violent attack, Rocky tried desperately to defend himself. As the leopard bit down on his neck, the Labrador kicked and struggled to break free.
The struggle continued as the leopard held Rocky with its claws and jaws. For a moment, the dog appeared to lose strength under the predator’s grip.
The frightening scene took a dramatic turn when Mala Kumari, the property owner, began screaming. Her loud cries startled the leopard, causing it to release Rocky and flee from the area, the Times of India reported.
Once the leopard let go, Rocky quickly got back on his feet. He briefly chased after the fleeing animal before turning around and heading toward the safety of his home.
Fortunately, Rocky survived the terrifying encounter. His escape brought a frightening incident to an end, thanks in part to the quick reaction of the woman whose screams startled the leopard.
