Christian Oliver, known for his roles in Speed Racer and The Good German, tragically died in a plane crash in the Caribbean along with his two daughters, as reported by police in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The authorities indicated that the crash took place on Thursday, just west of Petit Nevis island, as the plane was en route to St. Lucia. They were flying in a single-engine aircraft that apparently encountered difficulties shortly after takeoff before plunging into the sea.

“Moments after taking off, the aircraft experienced difficulties and plummeted into the ocean,” investigators stated. The cause of the crash remains undetermined.

Local divers, fishermen, and coast guard members hurried to the location to assist, and military personnel eventually recovered the bodies of those on board: Oliver, his daughters Madita, 10, and Annik, 12, as well as the pilot and owner of the plane, Robert Sachs, from Bequia.

According to Deadline, Oliver had recently completed filming his final scenes for the upcoming movie Forever Hold Your Peace. Director Nick Lyon shared a photo of himself and Oliver on Instagram, reminiscing about their long-standing collaboration. “We talked about producing a film together for years and finally did it,” Lyon wrote, expressing gratitude for Oliver’s friendship and talent.

Oliver’s ex-wife, the mother of their daughters, released a statement saying, “The deep bond, infectious laughter, and adventurous spirit shared by Madita and Annik will be profoundly missed in their communities.”

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Oliver’s family and loved ones. May they rest in peace.
