First-term GOP Rep. Brandon Gill from Texas is urging the Trump administration to deport Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) back to her homeland of Somalia.

“America would be a better place if @IlhanMN were deported back to Somalia,” Gill tweeted on Tuesday.

His tweet included a video clip of Omar appearing to coach fellow Somalis living in the U.S.—potentially without legal status—on how to resist federal immigration officials. The video was shared by conservative influencer Greg Price, who remarked, “Ilhan Omar is now hosting workshops for Somalis living in the country illegally to advise them on how to avoid being deported.”

Support from Followers

Gill found a sympathetic audience on X, with several users backing his call. One remarked, “100%! She’s anti-American as they come. She pledged allegiance to the United States and has only ever acted against it. She’s a fraud, liar, and traitor to this country!” Another user chimed in, “Isn’t this against the law? Expel her!” Yet another declared, “She is committing federal crimes by telling illegal immigrants how to avoid ICE. She deserves to be investigated and prosecuted.”

In a later statement, Gill asserted, “We should have never let Ilhan Omar into our country.” A spokesperson for Gill explained to The Hill, “Representative Omar’s conduct raises questions about her loyalty—whether it’s to the American people or to illegal aliens from Somalia. It is disgraceful for a sitting Congresswoman and U.S. citizen to facilitate the invasion of our country by illegal alien Somalis.”

Omar’s Controversial Advice

In the clip, Omar advised undocumented Somalians—or those whose documentation might have expired—on how to respond if questioned by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers. “You are not obligated to answer their questions. Just state that you are advised by a lawyer not to answer questions,” she told the reporter. “Disclosure of your name, immigration status, and mode of entry is not mandatory. Learn the laws and prepare yourself; refrain from disclosing information that you prefer them not to know.”

Omar’s remarks come as President Donald Trump’s administration begins to act on his campaign promise of implementing mass deportations, starting with illegal migrant criminals. Tom Homan, the border czar and a veteran Border Patrol officer, stated that while the administration’s priority is on criminal aliens, anyone found to be in the country illegally could be subject to arrest and deportation.

“In sanctuary cities, expect a lot of collateral arrests,” Homan warned in December, before Trump took office. “We can’t get the bad guy in jail. That means we have to go into the communities and find them, and there may be others. We expect a lot of collateral arrests.” He also mentioned that there were over 700,000 criminal aliens with convictions at that time.

“We’re starting across the country on the same day,” he asserted, noting, “Every field office will be given the direction to begin looking for, arresting, detaining, and removing those who have been arrested for a crime.”

Tensions on Air

In another December interview, Homan had a heated exchange with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins regarding the administration’s mass deportation operations. When Collins raised concerns about ICE agents pursuing illegal aliens who might be hiding in schools, churches, and hospitals, Homan responded firmly. “What is the standard, I guess, to go into an elementary school?” she asked, citing worries about a chilling effect on parents.

“It shouldn’t be a chilling effect unless your child is a terrorist or a public safety threat. If they are a public safety threat, a national security threat, they should be chilled. They should be afraid because we’re looking for them,” Homan shot back.
