Accidents are going to happen from time to time but when they happen to the president of the United States, they tend to take on an entirely different meaning. We see this after Donald Trump was accidentally knocked in the face with a boom mic by a reporter.
The 78-year-old president was answering questions from reporters at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on March 14. Microphones were being put up to hear him and one of the mics, which was equipped with a windscreen that is known as a ‘dead cat’ made contact with his mouth and dragged across his face.
When this happened, Trump leaned back and closed his eyes instinctively and it was obvious that he was caught off guard. He could’ve let it slide but he did crack a joke about it.

He said: “She just made television tonight. She just became a big story tonight.” He then turned to others off-camera and said: “Did you see that?”
No information is available on who the boom mic operator worked for but these types of microphones are used often in environments where there is a lot of noise or wind to capture clear audio.
It was a distraction, to say the least, but Trump gained his composure quickly and continued to answer questions before getting on Air Force One.
When this video hit social media, people could’ve laughed at it but rather, they started calling the incident ‘deliberate’ or ‘intentional’. Others have dark theories about it and some of the conspiracy theories are even asking for the microphone operator to be arrested.
One of the issues that came up from the comment section was criticism of the Secret Service. They said that they weren’t protecting the president from the bump on the nose and that an immediate investigation should take place.

From there, it went down a rabbit hole of asking if the microphone was poisoned or if they hit him on purpose. There were some who insisted that he was hit on purpose and it may have been a practice session for future attacks on the president.
Eventually, it got to the point where people were commenting that it was 100% on purpose and the person started getting angry. They are calling for the Secret Service to investigate the incident and test the microphone for poison or a different type of biological agent.
It ended up to the point where people were calling for the reporter to be arrested because it ‘looked deliberate’ or even ‘was on purpose’.
There are always going to be some comments that come in and conspiracy theories are common when it comes to the president. In the end, it looks like it was an innocent mistake but who knows?
